Phishing is an attack that tries to steal your money or identity.
Scammers try to get you to reveal personal information, like bank card information or passwords – via websites that pretend to be legitimate.
If you are ever in doubt, contact Fastway Couriers (South Africa) at email info@fastway.co.za.
Fastway is aware of the trend whereby fraudsters target individuals buying and selling online. Scammers send fake emails, SMS, or Instant Messages, pretending to be from Fastway
Fastway Couriers does not facilitate or arrange payments between buyers and sellers.
With this phishing scam, individuals are targeted when they list an item for sale on an online store or marketplace and are contacted by an ‘interested buyer’. This can lead to communication between the individual (seller) and the ‘interested buyer’ via email, SMS or Instant Messaging apps. In this instance, the ‘interested buyer’ advises that they want to use Fastway to arrange payment, collect and deliver the item. Please note that sometimes a ‘Delivery Status’ suggests ‘Money received’.
Reports confirm that when payment is being arranged, the individual (seller) receives an email, SMS or Instant Message with a fraudulent link or URL pretending to be from Fastway. This fraudulent link or URL tries to get the individual’s (seller) personal details and transfer funds to a fraudulent account.
Fastway Couriers (South Africa) legitimate emails or websites will include the business’s official domain, fastway.co.za, for example - info@fastway.co.za
